Local workshops & retreats

Yoga workshops, yoga retreats and special events in Queensland, Australia, inspired by the traditional teachings of Vedic Yoga Centre Rishikesh, India

Time set aside for practice

Some aspects of yoga benefit from having more time than a regular weekly class allows.

Our local yoga workshops, retreats and special events may explore Hatha yoga, pranayama, meditation, kriya, sound, yoga philosophy, chanting, kirtan and other aspects of traditional yogic practice. The content and length of each program will vary depending on the teacher and the purpose of the event.

Whether you are new to yoga or have practised for many years, you are welcome to attend whichever program suits you.

Upcoming workshops & events

Upcoming yoga workshops, retreats, kirtans, visiting teacher programs and other special events in Queensland will be listed here as they are confirmed. Some programs will be offered by Elizabeth Hevesi, while others may be led by visiting teachers who bring their own experience and areas of practice. If no events are currently listed, please check back again later, as new programs continue to be added throughout the year.

Visiting teachers

From time to time, Vedic Yoga Centre Australia may also welcome visiting teachers.

Some may teach within the broader Vedic and Himalayan traditions, while others may offer established approaches such as traditional Hatha yoga or complementary practices that are appropriate to the Centre.

Their yoga workshops, classes and special events will be advertised here individually, together with information about the teacher and the program being offered.

Kirtan and community gatherings

Kirtan and other community gatherings may also be offered throughout the year.

Kirtan is traditionally offered in the spirit of shared practice rather than as a formal class, bringing people together through mantra, music and devotion. Where applicable, these gatherings will be offered by donation.

Shailendra Singh Negi in Australia

When Shailendra Singh Negi, founder and senior teacher of Vedic Yoga Centre Rishikesh, visits Australia, traditional yoga workshops and special programs will be offered through Vedic Yoga Centre Australia.

His next Australian visit is planned for July–August 2027, with program details to be announced as arrangements are confirmed.

These visits provide Australian students an opportunity to experience teachings from the Himalayan tradition locally, while maintaining a direct connection between Vedic Yoga Centre Australia and the home centre in Rishikesh.

Looking for regular yoga classes?

If you are looking for regular yoga classes in the Bundaberg region rather than a workshop or special event, visit our local timetable for current classes, teachers and locations.
